TNP friends: It's almost time for 2 great summer events organized by some of our fabulous member organizations: HSC's annual backpack drive to support Norwalk students, and YBI's amazing Community Day--an all-day event featuring a basketball tournament, resources fair, and backpack giveaway. Read on to learn how you can support and participate in these events!
2024 School Supplies & Backpack Drive
Every year, the Human Services Council (HSC) organizes a backpack drive to provide school supplies & family resources to Norwalk students during fun-filled, drug-free events.
This year, TNP's Local Prevention Council funding has allowed us to purchase 300 backpacks and folders, but HSC is hoping to support at least 400 families. Two of their donors have dropped out this year, so your help can make a difference!
You can help by purchasing needed supplies through this Amazon wishlist (direct link: http://a.co/dwyt4vu) and having them delivered to Diamond Sead at HSC, 1 Park Street, Norwalk 06851--or simply send a check to HSC for the backpack drive. This year, the giveaways will be held on July 27th, as part of Community Day (see below), and on August 26th. If you are able to help out in any way it would be greatly appreciated!
Community Day
The Youth Business Initiative (YBI) is having its annual Basketball Tournament and Community Day on Saturday, July 27th at Veteran's Park (raindate July 28th). This event includes relay races, face painting, food trucks, and fun--as well as the backpack giveaway.
